International Film Festival on Clay and Glass selection process begins for 2010

2010 FIFAV:

"
Created in 1998 by Ateliers d’Art de France, the festival was originally entirely dedicated to clay, portrayed in all its facets. In 2006, the festival was expanded to include another fire-based art : glass, and became the International Film Festival on Clay and Glass. The common denominators of all the films, clay and glass are depicted through a broad spectrum of subjects ranging from portraits of creators and studio visits, techniques, artistic performances to archaeology, ethnology, the history of civilisations, history of art, heritage and architecture.

"Whether slow or quick, moving or still, the camera captures the multiple facets of a glance and the anxieties of the creative mouth and lips of so many artists and craftsworkers that we dare not glimpse alone. Poetically modest, sometimes audacious and violent, animated images can sometimes help us to grasp the unfathomable dimensions of creation", wrote Loul Combres, Artistic Director, in the editorial for the Festival's 10th anniversary."

2008 Awards for the 6th edition of the festival:

"At this sixth edition, the jury and the public voted in large numbers for the film "L'Etre et la forme" by Jeanne Hadorn, a revealing and moving portrait of the ceramist Jacqueline Lerat filmed at her home in La Borne, which won the Ateliers d'Art de France First Award and the Festival-Goers' Award. John F. Wyver's portrait of Grayson Perry, an extravagant contemporary ceramist who has no hesitation in challenging the notions of traditional pottery, won the Contemporary Award.
Ceramic traditions were also high on the agenda, since two awards (Heritage and UNESCO) were presented to "Pottery and dragon kiln", a documentary by Chinese film-maker Jiansheng Li portraying the age-old pottery traditions of the Chinese village of Tao Yao.
Finally, the Glass Award went to the film "Aux âmes envolées – L’histoire d’un vitrail" by Vincent Lauth, which traces the creation of a stained glass window by Emmanuelle Grand for the crematorium in Dijon.
The four award-winners were presented with trophies created by ceramist Daphné Corregan, as well as prize-money.
