Flameworker competes for $120,000

Is $120,000 enough to build a 'city of glass' full of bowls, marbles, sculptures, and lighting?

2009 Mary Frances Hill:

"Absolut Vodka, the sponsors of Absolut Vancouver, competition that challenges Vancouver's fine artists to create an idea that will invigorate the arts, has named its five finalists in the competition.

The bright ideas are in.

Absolut plans to use the proceeds of sales from a limited edition bottle of Absolut Vancouver to offer up to $120,000 for the artists to pursue their goals. [...]"

One of the five finalists is "Braden Hammond, a lampworking glass artist and head of Braden Hammond Glass, proposes Vancouver City of Glass, a large exhibit of glass work — lighting projects, bowls, marbles and glass sculptures — to be showcased in a glass enclosure on the city's streets."
