Holsten now Schantz Galleries

2009 Kenn Holsten:

"Dear Friends,

I'm excited to share with you an important new change in the way Holsten Galleries will be doing business from here on. After 31 years of operating my Stockbridge gallery, I have decided to expand the gallery website, www.holstengalleries.com, to become the world's premier virtual glass art gallery. From now on, I will be operating Holsten Galleries as an online gallery from my office in Santa Fe, New Mexico, serving both as a private art dealer and consultant.

My virtual gallery,
www.holstengalleries.com, will continue to specialize in the works of leading glass artists including Dale Chihuly, Jon Kuhn, Lino Tagliapietra, William Morris and many others. I anticipate that this new direction for Holsten Galleries will allow me more time to work closely with collectors.

I am also pleased to announce that the new owners of the Stockbridge gallery are my longtime friends and colleagues Jim Schantz and his wife Kim Saul. In Jim's 27 years with the gallery, I have always found him to be a consummate professional, bringing deep knowledge of the work and artists, personal integrity and caring service to all. Kim has done outstanding work as the gallery's graphic designer and brings many gifts to her new role as co-owner. Jim and Kim will be in touch with you soon to share their plans. They have renamed the Stockbridge gallery Schantz Galleries.

While the two galleries will function independently, Holsten and Schantz look forward to co-presenting an exhibition of all-new works by Maestro Lino Tagliapietra at SOFA-Chicago, November 5-8.

I want to thank every one of you for your friendship and patronage over our many years of working together. I am grateful for the many wonderful relationships which have formed since Holsten Galleries first opened our doors in Stockbridge back in 1978. I look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.

Warmest regards,

Kenn Holsten

Holsten Galleries Blog

"The World of Contemporary Glass Sculpture by Kenn Holsten" was launched March 24, 2009.

Excerpt from April 17, 2009: "We recently received a new piece by Preston Singletary at Holsten Galleries. The piece is titled “Raven Steals the Stars.” Preston Singletary is a Seattle-based glass artist. While growing up he was best friends with another of our Seattle artists, Dante Marioni. “Raven Steals the Stars” draws on Preton’s [sic] Native American heritage as is true of all of his works. His Tlinkit culture (on his mother’s side) is rich with stories and myths about Raven, who apparently stole not only the stars but also the sun and the moon. On a recent visit to Seattle with my staff and some of our top collectors, we visited Preston’s new glass studio and hotshop. Preston is a soft-spoken but powerful artist and we are honored to represent him at Holsten Galleries. We look forward to his upcoming exhibition at the Tacoma Museum of Glass."
