Glass Awards (not scholarships)

This post contains an unfinished list of international awards given specifically to glass artists. My intent is to include the criteria used by the judges and a list of past winners in this post as I gather more information.


Ranamok Glass Prize, formerly RFC (until 2001)
Prize Money: $15,000 acquisitive award
Residency: Australia and New Zealand
Criteria: "This work should be innovative, displaying excellence and imagination in quality of idea and execution in contemporary practice."

Criteria: "The International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa, first established in 1984 as the world’s only international glass exhibition with public call for entry... In each of the past events, the exhibition drew many excellent works from some 40 countries and has been highly recognized as a global showcase of the new trends in the world of glass art."

Saidye Bronfman Award
Prize Money: $25,000 + an original work of art
Residency: Canada, professional artists only
Criteria: "Nominees must be professional artists who have made a substantial contribution to the development of fine crafts in Canada over a significant period of time (at least 10 years; fewer under exceptional circumstances)."

Criteria: Judged by peers. "Originality of design and creativity, degree of difficulty, innovative use of materials, mastery of the techniques utilized, aesthetics, overall technical quality of the piece.”

The Glass Sellers Award
Prize Money: 5,000 pounds (student prize is 1,000 pounds)
Residency: UK
Criteria: "We are looking for originality and talent in the use of glass as a medium of artistic expression and the awards are presented for the artistic and technical excellence of submissions predominantly in glass but specifically excluding stained glass windows."
