Kim Harty's glassblowing performance team Cirque de Verre was featured in the Spring 2009 issue of Glass Quarterly, a magazine that provides "serious discourse about glass as a medium for contemporary art," according to the GQ website. But it's Harty's personal "hypothesis" about her own art (she speaks on video on YouTube) that would have made for an article more in step with "serious discourse."
2009 Kim Harty:
Transcription by ABJ from YouTube video "Cirque De Verre: Kim Harty Slide Talk":
"My hypothesis..."Whatever you put into making something is evident in the final object, which seems really basic, until you start putting unconventional things into the way that you make something: Finding different ways to make glass, focusing on the performance of craft rather than the object and then later, kind of, finding out the results of that practice and seeing how the object functions in the world."
